Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway Heritage Festival

After a long wait, finally P&DSR have decided to hold another heritage festival. Loco 7827 "Lydham Manor" has been painted black and re-named Torquay Manor for this weekends event. All of their Locomotives were operating frequent services including normal service,Troop Train where war Re-en actors board the train and Goods Trains. It was an enjoyable event with the model show along with other things at Churston Station. I hope its on next year.

I know the pic is from an earlier post but it shows 7800 crossing broadsands viaduct

The First and last!

In 1997, Stagecoach Devon ordered 14 Alexander ALX200 bodied Volvo B6BLE's to introduce Low-Floor Operation to Bayline Route 12. Their fleet numbers being 31701-14. After a couple of years,Stagecoach introduced some ex-London Northern Counties bodied Volvo Olympians to test Double deck operation. These were then replaced by 21 Dennis Tridents which are still in service.

Meanwhile, the B6's had taken over city services in Exeter where they remained until early 2011.I really wanted one of these beasts to be saved. Thankfully, P701BTA (the first ever low-floor for Devon) is now in preservation owned by James Pratt. We wish him the best for the restoration of her! I have heard that the last of the batch, P714BTA has been sold to Beacon Bus (Holsworthy LTD)

The Mercs whereabouts

well,I wasn't expecting this news. Its been said that the Ex-Stagecoach Mercedes 709D have been moved to Scotland for further service. I'm very glad to hear this as they are too good to scrap. Already,Stagecoach devon are having problems witht he Optares they brought to replace them.
