The end of an era!

Well, the title seems to cover this post nicely! Earlier today I recieved news that Stagecoach South West's last Alexander PS bodied Volvo B10M R807JDV had been withdrawn and gone for sale. R807JDV was new to Stagecoach Devon along with 5 Volvo Olympians in 1997.

Over the years ,Stagecoach Devon have gathered quite a few PS' and used them on express routes mainly due to there level of power and comfort. I did actually used to have a hatrid for the B10M wich is something I now regret. From about 2010 onwards, the Volvo B10M has become more of a rarity in the Stagecoach fleet with from what I can remember, an R928XVM, M-OSO and R807JDV being the only ones left in the South West.

Lately, R928XVM was sold to Chepstow Classic and M-OSO disappeared until today when 20437 (R807JDV) was finally withdrawn bringing the end to the Volvo B10M/Alexander PS in the South West. Not only does it bring the B10M type to a close, it also reduces our Step Entrance vehicles down to only five which I think are Volvo Olympians 16601(R901FDV), 602-04 (R902/3/4JDV) and either Scania O/T J828HMC or Barnstaple Cycle/Surf bus Olympian P817GMU.

It is certainly sad to see this happen but its what some call progress, I just say stupidity.
